The kind of manager you are is going to have a big impact on the nature of your job, whether it's a single person in charge of a department, or in charge of an entire department of business.
I remember when I started my career in the banking industry as a branch manager of one of the bigger banks. At the time, the difference between being a branch manager and being a CEO was that the branch manager had to manage a very small business that was spread across the whole country. They were not managing an organisation which had hundreds of businesses or which was worth billions of dollars. In fact, the branches that were around the country were not worth anything at all.
